Alliance News

AGM 2024

This years AGM was held at Ryde GC on the 9th February, Ian Ralph (President) reported on what was another succesfull year for the Alliance. 104 members contested 10 meetings, (slightly down on last year.)

Unfortunately Lee Cawley has had to step down as secretary, it was decided to advertise amongst the members for a new secretary. It was suggested that the position warranted an annual honorarium of £500 this being passed by those present.

Discussion took place concerning a possible rise in match fees as one club has said it wants £10 per player rather than the standard fee paid last year, Suggestions ranged from raising the match fees for all meetings so as all clubs are treated the same to keeping things as they are now and dropping that particular fixture. It was felt that there wasnt a large enough group at the meeting to make a decision so it was agreed that the Alliance would poll its members at the first meeting of the year on the subject.

Treasurer Mark Wright presented the annual finance summary - Income remained consistent and after deducting all expenses , an annual surplus of £259 was declared. It was noted that payments to clubs increased and consequently voucher prizes were forced to reduce in order to avoid a deficit.  As at December 2023 , the bank balance stood at £2,518.

Thanks go to Lee Cawley & Gordon Debenham (outgoing Captain) for their hard work last year.

Thanks to Ryde Golf Club for hosting the AGM
